‘Here She Is’-A Spring Song

Well here she is
at last,
laughing as she comes.

Laughing wildly
as her beauty
penetrates the frozen places,
inside and out.

The North welcomes her
as no other place.

This is no subtle rendezvous.
This is not the time
for shyness,
for holding back,
for downward glances.

Abandon yourself
to her magnificence.
Throw away the burden
of your shyness.

Stare her straight
in the eye.
Open yourself
to her golden smile.

Witness your neighbours
tearing off clothes,
leaving doors wide open,
Smiling for no reason.

Young girls
offer their bodies
to this brightness.

Creamy breasts
and long white legs
appear on the streets,
startling us,
reminding us
of long-forgotten
delights.

Oh the body rejoices now.
It will have its day,
after the endless winter
of the mind.

People loll about,
work is forgotten.
Young ones loiter,
sucking on popsicles,
nowhere to go,
but here.

The smell of grass and
many blossoms
hangs in the air.

Did you think she took too long
this time?

Lift your heart up into the light
and squeeze out the bitterness.
Offer it to her-
She has not forgotten you.

All of this is given-
this river of goodness
that is pouring so freely.
Who can meet such generosity?

Her warm breath holds your life,
Feel it.
