Dear Shayla,
Thanks for sending these wonderful Lifeletters. I always enjoy them. I thought you might like this description of the ego by Baba Hari Dass:
“ The Self is the sovereign;
nature is its kingdom;
mind and intellect are ministers;
and ego is the governor,
which rules for its own self-interest.”
Love,
Michael
Dear Shayla,
re: ‘The ego is like a mini-corporation, driven by its own addictions..’
In support of your original letter, I thought this was an excellent sentence. Since all human behaviour rests on the ego, to transform large negative-impact corporations, we should be looking at our own addictions. We vote to add to their power every time we open our wallet in their direction.
I take your friend’s point that there are good corporations, but, heck, the bad ones have such huge negative impact this needs naming and addressing.
Perhaps there should be another word created for ‘good corporations.’

I think being politically correct about corporations
or having a soft spot for such structures is less
important than educating people on the illnesses of
our culture perpetuated and enhanced by most corporate
identities and culture. They do not need our
protection they have the law of $$$$ on their side. I
say f--- the whole lot of them as the Catholic church
would do onto others.
In deep love,

Hello Shayla,
I enjoy reading your newsletters - great work you’re doing.
I couldn’t resist adding my bit re coporations and do they have a soul.
I attended a ‘Forum’ workshop in my early days starting out on my spiritual journey.
When the guru said that corporations have a soul, my usual quiet reticent self sat up immediately and asked him to repeat himelf.
“Yes, corporations have a soul” he said “ look at Johnson & Johnson. They pulled tylenol off the market when they were laced with poison in the 80’s and several people died”
“Not so I replied” surprising myself. “Yes , J & J have some fine people in the organsation but they are dancing to the tune of the ‘bottom line’ and shareholders but this does not give the organisation a soul. Only you and I have a soul. Only you and I cry when we hear the news of people dying from the result of our decisions. A corporation is a body (corpus) without a soul. I have never seen or heard a corporation cry - it cannot cry - it does not have a soul”
In Spirit,
Stephen Faulkner
